Prepare your home for a clean Christmas

Christmas is nearing with each passing day, and so are your huge list of friends and relatives accumulating in your house. So preparing your house to be this cozy place is a task. So whether you’re hosting a family meal, receiving guests, or visiting relatives, here are a few suggestions for how to stay in control of your housework.

  1. Get a jump start.

Grab a box quickly and make a complete tour of the house and see what is not needed in the house. Toss it in. You can even have a fun game going on or hum a Christmas carol in your head while doing so. Getting a jump start is usually all it takes to get me on a roll and motivated to do more.

  1. One at a time approach.

If you decide to clean up your whole house in one go, you’re going to get frustrated and exhausted. Therefore, choose one room at a time and tidy it up. Break down your cleaning work. Tell yourself it is manageable. See that what you do is done completely. Once you’ve mastered that. Christmas cleaning is very enjoyable.

  1. Maintain a standard.

Once you have started cleaning your house, maintain a level of standard you’ve set out. Everyday spend a few minutes and try to reorganize the room. Maybe you would want a nice lampshade in a corner, or that new rug you bought while holidaying in Europe. It is always easier to maintain on a regular basis than to start over again. Kind of like dieting, but let’s not talk about that (chuckles).

In the main living areas, put away some of the stuff that normally is on display or lying around – that stack of magazines won’t get looked at over Christmas; store it away.

  1. Sweet rewards.

Finally, begin unpacking those Christmas decorations and begin changing the mood inside the house. Add hollies to the bedroom doors in your house, and don’t forget the mistletoe at the entrance. Set up your Christmas tree – all bright and sparkly to lift the spirits. We want to welcome Father Nick and leave us all goodies under it, don’t we? Add a little Christmas in and around your rooms! We are sure you’ll feel an immediate sense of reward for your effort!
